Eat, Drink, and Be Artsy
One of the best pleasures of summer is the Laguna Beach Art Festival. And the crowning gem of the festival is the Pageant of the Masters. This year, I was lucky enough to get to see the show before opening night. It was VIP night (July 6th) which included all of the sponsors and cast members’ families for this private screening. The masses drove out to the see the wonderful production.
It was an amazing spectacle and well worth the crowds. This year’s theme was “Eat, Drink, and Be Merry.” Centered around food, liquid courage, and celebrations; there were many works depicting various cultural methods of festivities. My favorites included the two depictions of the Bon-Ton Burlesquers and the segment on Mardi Gras – it was over the top!
This is one summer event that I highly recommend. Invest in the primo seats or else be sure to drop a ten for the binoculars. Also, the seat cushion made the three hours on the hard, plastic baseball stadium chairs much more bearable. Bring a blanket, a bottle of wine, and a relaxed attitude for an evening of human accomplishment and real art.
